The Modern Warfare 2 community has held its own poll asking what players think the game needs to change ahead of Season 2 Reloaded, and almost everyone seemed to agree on one improvement in particular.
Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 Reloaded is right around the corner, and the devs have already promised a lot of new additions are on the way. Players can look forward to the brand-new Tempus Torrent Marksman Rifle and an exciting Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles crossover in multiplayer.
But the multiplayer community has been vocally unhappy with the state of the game, criticizing the devs for a lack of truly new content and accusing them of prioritizing Warzone 2.
Now, a fan vote has revealed the one major change that most players are desperate to see in Modern Warfare 2.
Reddit user LakeSimilar shared the poll, asking players: “If you could change ONE thing about the game, what would it be?”
At the time of writing, over 7,000 users have had their say, and while options like bringing back MW 2019’s movement and increasing the TTK received a decent number of votes, “double the current amount of 6v6 maps” was clearly in the lead with 3,000.
This has been an ongoing complaint since Modern Warfare 2 launched in 2022, with many players feeling that there isn’t enough map variety to keep games fresh over longer sessions.
Season 2 Reloaded will deliver the new Himmelmatt Expo map, but many of the replies called for Infinity Ward to go one step further.
“Just flood the game with more maps, they could be old ones for all I care. You see that Karachi? Port the map, and everyone is happy with more content,” said one player.
“What’s more infuriating is that they have the maps built into the warzone map,” agreed another, referencing the likes of Rust and Quarry appearing as POIs in Al Mazrah.
While there have been many calls for new maps in Modern Warfare 2, others pointed out that the devs have a wealth of old maps to draw from which could drastically increase the pool and prevent players from seeing the same ones regularly:
“I wish there was a way to convince the decision-makers. It’s such a waste of effort when they throw out all the work done on past titles/maps and start over for the next game. You’d think they would want to pull from that massive catalog more than they do.”
The community has been desperately calling for more maps for months at this point, and it doesn’t seem like the complaints are going away any time soon.
Only time will tell if the devs decide to increase the rate with which new maps are released in Modern Warafre 2 Season 3 or beyond.
