Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 Season 3 is adding a boatload of content to both games. Multiplayer fans have the return of Gunfight and new maps to look forward to, while battle royale players are being treated to a new Gulag and Ranked mode.
The new season is also bringing the exciting Trophy Hunt event for players of both titles to take part in, offering a host of free rewards to unlock.
Here’s a breakdown of everything you need to know about the Trophy Hunt event in Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2.
Modern Warfare 2 & Warzone 2 Trophy Hunt start date
The devs have confirmed that the Trophy Hunt event will go live in both Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 on Friday, April 14, 2023.
While the Season 3 update goes live on April 12, the official blog revealed that Trophy Hunt will begin “48 hours after launch,” meaning players will have the whole weekend to get a headstart.
Modern Warfare 2 & Warzone 2 Trophy Hunt explained
During the Trophy Hunt event, all players will drop a trophy when they are eliminated in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2, which can then be collected – similar to a Tag in Kill Confirmed.
These “small, decorative challenge coins” drop in all modes across both games and can be exchanged for valuable rewards after the match has ended.
It isn’t clear at the moment if trophies can be collected by any player or just the one who secured the kill. There’s also no word on whether or not there’s a limit on how many trophies can be carried at a given time.
The devs mentioned that “more details on this event will be available as part of this season’s Warzone 2.0 Tactical Overview blog,” so we’ll be sure to update this section once we know more.
Modern Warfare 2 & Warzone 2 Trophy Hunt rewards
Once players have collected enough trophies, they can be swapped for rewards by heading to the Events tab of the Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 menu. The exact lineup won’t be available until the Trophy Hunt event goes live, but a few have been confirmed already.

- Weapon Blueprints
- Vehicle Skins
- Battle Pass Token Tier Skips
Dedicated players who redeem plenty of rewards throughout the event will also earn exclusive Operator skins for their efforts.
