Activision’s new blog post reveals Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2‘s Season 3 Reloaded update will arrive on May 10, bringing a new multiplayer map, new features to battle royale, and Warzone 2’s competitive Ranked Play mode. Here is everything announced for the big mid-season update.
Call of Duty Season 3 Reloaded start times
Activision has announced the Season 3 Reloaded update will launch on May 10. These updates usually go live at around 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM BST.
New weapons and event
Season 3 Reloaded will include two new weapons to unlock. The FTAC Siege is a fully automatic machine pistol, and the GS Magna is a fully-auto .50-caliber pistol with the ability to go akimbo.
The throwing star lethal throwing equipment was postponed from Season 2, and the equipment will finally be available in Season 3 Reloaded, and it will be available to unlock with an in-game challenge.
Just like Season 2 Reloaded, Season 3’s mid-season update will include a brand-new camo challenge. Players will be able to unlock two new camos, plus a special weapon charm that shows they completed the event.
More features for battle royale
Season 3 Reloaded will add a few familiar features from Warzone 1, including the Deployable Buy Station and Gulag Entry Kit. The Deployable Buy Station let’s players purchase new gear more conveniently, without having to hunt down the nearest Buy Station on the map. The Gulag Entry Kit is like the token from Warzone 1, which let’s players get another chance in the Gulag for re-entry into the match after a second elimination.
The update also adds lootable perk packages. Players can find preset perk packages in supply boxes and at Buy Stations. These will be the same default perk packages currently found in Modern Warfare 2.
Warzone Ranked Play
Warzone 2’s competitive Ranked Play mode will launch in beta for Season 3 Reloaded. Similar to Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer Ranked Play, this will feature competitive settings, a progressive rank system, a skill system, and seasonal rewards to earn. More details on this competitive mode will be revealed before the big update.
Koschei Complex will be a new location for DMZ, which is a subterranean bunker complex players must discover for themselves. The blog teases there are multiple entrances to this new area. This is a dark area that will require flashlights, and there will be lootable night vision goggles.
Just like battle royale, DMZ is also getting the Deployable Buy Stations to make it easier to purchase items during the match.
Modern Warfare 2
For multiplayer, Alboran Hatchery is the new standard 6v6 map, which is described as location set at a series of warehouses near wind turbines.
As previously announced, GW Infected is a mode scheduled for the second half of the season. This will be Call of Duty’s Infected multiplayer mode played on the larger Ground War maps.
Gunfight will also get the 3v3 Faceoff variant, which is played in 3v3 and allows players to use their own custom loadouts on the small Gunfight maps.
Players can also expect a brand-new Raid episode, which continues Modern Warfare 2’s post-launch narrative with a series of stealth, action, and puzzle-solving objectives.
Kevin Durant and other operator bundles arrive
As previously teased, the NBA’s Kevin Durant will be available to purchase as a playable operator. His operator bundle includes two weapon blueprints that reference his iconic nicknames: the Reap This assault rifle blueprint and the Easy Money sniper weapon blueprint.
There are also other bundles, including one that lets players be a giant rat and one that adds classic audio from 2009’s Modern Warfare 2.
Season 3 initially added a new battle pass, new maps, weapons, and a Trophy Hunt event. This will be players’ last chance to complete and earn the Trophy Hunt rewards, as the event expires with the launch of Season 3 Reloaded.
